Antichita Lattanzi - La Bottega d'Arte

"Bottega 'arte - Antichita Lattanzi" was founded in 1925 by the family progenitor Corrado Lattanzi who, with lighted vision, artistic sensitivity and commercial capacity, foreboded the importance of starting art dealing in native Carrara town, both selling art pieces and promoting the local cultural heritage. He thus organized art exhibitions for emerging innovative Carrara artists such as Montruccoli, Dazzi, Vatteroni, Fontana, Cucchiari, was part of the cultural life of his time together with Angeli, Del Medico, Fabbricotti (all teachers at Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara) and impressed his mark on town by opening his gallery in via Cavour to cultural meetings and happenings. Bottega D'Arte was a favourite meeting place for futurist artists in the twenties such as Marinetti, Prampolini e the musician Giuntini, sold art pieces to refined town and national customers, was appointed in the Thirties supplier of the Italian monarchy for numismatics. After the second world war, Corrado senior adds to his interest for Italian and European furniture, carpets, art pieces, a new passion for European and Chinese porcelain of XVII and XVIII century, thus launching a fashion which soon influenced the offer of other famous antique dealers in Sarzana, Lucca and Carrara: his passion and enthusiasm were transmitted to customers who decorated thier houses with porcelain dishes, tureens, vases coming from European antique markets and fron the very few Italian collectors. In middle Sixties, Corrado's two sons Danilo and Luciano are involved in the family affairs, the first opening another contemporary and ancient art shop in Massa together with his wife Elisa (after a promising start as an painter at Biennale di Venezia), the second becoming a renouned artist who founded the post informal current of "Semantic" painting. With the departure of Corrado senior the Carrara art gallery was closed and the antiquarian activity goes on in Danilo Lattanzi's shop in Massa until 1996 when his heirs Corrado and Valeria decide to reopen the historical shop in Carrara on occasion of the revival of Biennale Internazionale di Scultura. Today's activity in historical place in via Cavour, 6 in Carrara, follows the cultural model started by the founder and kept alive by his son Danilo: antique art and furniture dealing and promotion of the artistic and cultural heritage of the Apuania territory. Besides the art collections of Chinese and European porcelain, furniture, paintings, curiosities are now marble statues of the Carrara production of XVIII to XX century. Corrado Lattanzi junior, both art dealer and architect, manages his Bottega d'Arte, now nearing one century of activity, with a rare competence due both to his studies of art history and his experience of architect planner of interventions of restoration, recovery of epoch buildings and historian of the architecture with several pubblications.
