Five Mile Point Light

I read several reviews complaining about the $30 cost of parking during the high season- but during the winter it is completely free and def worth a trip! Lighthouse is beautiful and there are multiple beaches to look for glass or sea shells.

New Haven Green

Reviewed By dustythoughts - Manchester, United States

This is a wonderful place to go for a stroll, enjoy the nice weather, people watch, and enjoy many of the numerous activities that are held here. They have concerts here in the summer, and over the holidays it's a great way to look at the lights. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping opportunities nearby, especially as Yale is so close. Yale, and the historically-planned Green, give this area a lovely settled feeling. When school is in session, there are a lot of students lounging on the green or playing frisbee.

Toad's Place

It smells like old beer, and the crowd is young, but Toad's has been around forever and they have had some of the biggest and best bands/acts there. It is definitely a staple of the New Haven music scene.

Long Wharf Nature Preserve

This is a wonderful walk along the shore with many birds and an interesting shoreline. The only down side is the highway noise. Come visit! (full disclosure, I am on the board of Gather New Haven, formerly the New Haven Land Trust, which owns manages the preserve, but I do not consider that nonprofit, volunteer affiliation a "business relationship" -- it is a purely civic advancement relationship!)
