As with many old cities in Spain, it is impressive to see how clean the streets are kept and how the locals are obviously so proud of their city. It is a wonderful and easily accessible city to walk around with interesting shops selling quality goods. Each corner brings a new mediaeval surprise building to be investigated and appreciated. So many photographic opportunities and simply a great place to explore. Have covered food and drink experience separately on those specific reviews, you won't go wrong here either. Would look forward to spending more time here in future.

All of the cliches about stepping back in time are actually true - we'd say perhaps 400 years or so? (The Mozarabic church is actually about 1000 years old...) We wandered around and above the village soaking up the mountain vistas for hours - above the village we gathered wild chestnuts, walnuts and apples, which were everywhere. The road into the village is a little wild - a narrow one lane for kilometres where you pray you don't meet a returning car (we met only one as we were off-season).

I had assumed from guides and reviews that we would walk through the old Jewish Quarter in about 30 minutes - 3 hours later we had seen a lot and learnt a lot. It's worth printing out a guide from one of the internet sites before you go as without one it seems that there really is not much to see except narrow streets. Jews were expelled from Segovia as from elsewhere in Spain in the 14 hundreds and all that is left are reminders. The starting point on the Juderia Vieja is the Corpus Christi Convent which was originally a synagogue. A little further on is a small Jewish museum which is well worth a visit. A little further on at the Puerto san Andreas it's possible to go up on the city walls (for free) where there are spectacular views to the old Jewish slaughter house (now the wonderful museum of Segovia) and the Alcazar. From the San Andreas gate we walked down the hill and across the road to the old Jewish cemetery. A really fascinating 3 hours.
