The Pavillons de Bercy-Musée des Arts Forains house one of the largest collections of entertainment and fairground art's objects. They are located in ancient wine warehouses built by a Gustave Eiffel apprentice in the end of the 19th century. Discover the site and its four venues: Théatre du Merveilleux (Thetre of Marvels), Salons Vénitiens (Venetian Rooms), Théâtre de Verdure (Vegetal outdoor area) and the Musée des Arts Forains (Museum àof Fairground Art), all displayed with themes such as Cabinet of curiosities, Venetian carnival, Extraordinary gardens and funfairs of the Belle Epoque (End of the 19th century). This private museum is opende throughout the year, only by apointement in order to experiment the spirit of the place in a lively and participative tour. The guides takes the visitor on an out of time journey, enables them to ride carousels and listen to an automaton show. The Pavillons de Bercy are opened to visit throughout the year only by appointment. And exceptionnally without booking twice a year during the European Heritage Days and Festival du Merveilleux. All the venues can also be rented for private events.

this amazing collection of antique carousel and fairground attractions is real treasure chest of goodies. Of interest to all ages it really is a step back in time and all beautifully presented and laid out in stunning wine warehouses a few metro sops from the centre of Paris It is a working museum with the opportunity to see, hear, touch and ride on some magical fairground rides but more than that as totally unique and artistically presented. The tours are conducted in French but the lovely, passionate staff (Libere) really do help explain and include English speaking visitors. The website does not do it justice and it is important to book in advance. This wonderful collection deserves way more publicity as a great alternative to some of the busier and stuffy museums and tourist attractions - do go and see for yourself and come away smiling 16 francs for 2 hours of fun - no-brainer thank you and well done to the owners for saving such unique works of art and history - bon chance

I went to the Cinematheque a few times when I was in Paris: to see the current exhibition (on Chris Marker), to see the film museum, and to view a couple films. Entry to the Cinematheque building is free (and there is free wi-fi), and there is security at the door. Prices are clearly stated on the website, and I found them reasonable: € 6.50 per film screening, € 12 for entry to both the museum and the exhibition (or € 11 for just the exhibition). Restrooms are plentiful and accessible, though in the museum and exhibition hall they are almost hidden in corners. The Marker exhibit was the main event, and it was truly phenomenal. There were personal artifacts, film artifacts, screenings, and even interactive areas. There was some English information given, but the vast majority is in French (which is to be expected? mine is middling at best, but translation apps are your friend to dive deep). I spent about 3 hours there, and could have spent a full day between the items and the films running. The museum is neat - lots of old cameras and pre-film optical toys - but it is lots of objects and little text. This is great if you enjoy film history and can kind of contextualize things yourself, but you would likely not enjoy it so much without that background (or if you don't speak French). The screening rooms felt like a nicer version of a university meeting room, with no windows and surprisingly comfortable seats. Seating is first come, first serve. All in all, this is a wonderful institution with a good variety of exhibits and films. Check the calendar before you go, and make sure there is something you want to see, and if there is you'll have a great time.
