I have been a long standing customer to the Templeton Hotel, I had my 21st birthday dinner there some 25 years ago with my family. Over recent years I’ve seen the decline in the shabby decor and have opted not to visit the hotel. However, having heard of the take over etc I was yearning to give the Templeton another shot. I was booked in for a table of 2 for 7.30. The food was acceptable but we had to ask for drinks twice and waited longer than usual for food to be served! At 9.15 less than 2 hrs from being seated, not from the start of service we were asked to move from the table after paying £63.75, for 2 starters, 2 main courses & 2 drinks. These are Belfast prices but not Belfast standard!! At the time I didn’t argue, my father is seriously ill with cancer & this was a rest bite night, I was taken aback but drank what was left of my glass of wine and left. It’s acceptable to have a table for 2hrs & that’s what we would have got elsewhere & we wouldn’t have had a wedding and children from it ruining the meal. I’m hugely disappointed and will be sharing this his review online.Sent from my iPhoneHi Gillian! Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I booked a table for 11 for my mother's birthday and throughout the booking process and the evening itself the service was excellent. On the evening the staff were most attentive and eager to ensure that we enjoyed our night. We were served complimentary canapes at the start and at the end of the meal we were given complimentary marshmallows which were delicious.Having browsed other hotels' menus I can safely say that the Templeton's menu was the best value for our event. My starter was really tasty and I followed it with steak which was cooked perfectly and was delicious. My sweet was also lovely.Throughout the evening the staff, led by Andrew, were most professional and very attentive. We had a lovely evening.

I found the restaurant attractive with nice decor. It is located in the centre of Parkgate and there are several parking spaces outside the door. The young staff were very pleasant and quite efficient. I liked the Sunday menu options and chose the beef sliders which were very tasty. Others had the boneless ribs and the chilli prawns which were also enjoyed. Two of us picked the cod and I chose the slow braised beef. Great dishes, especially mine! The beef was outstanding and resembled two slabs of daupinoise potatoes in appearance. We enjoyed the accompanying potatoes and other vegetables. My brother in law chose the chicken chow mein which was a special. It was extremely salty. We all agreed about this and did mention it. He received a complimentary pint of beer. Shame all the dishes weren't perfect, but the lunch was thoroughly enjoyable.

I was so delighted to see this place actually does gluten free burgers and chips!!! I was even more delighted to see that the burger was really tasty. I had the handcut chips. To be honest they weren't great. Not very well cooked through and they had a funny taste: like the oil had an unusual aftertaste. The chips needed covered in vinegar to mask the bad taste. My home chips are much better and in my opinion, they shouldn't be: you guys are the professionals. The burger was SO good though so I'll definitely give it 5 stars and return soon. Although next time I'll have the skinny fries and hope they've upped their chippy game just a little more.

Went for a late breakfast, 2 tables occupied and the server offered the table in the middle of the floor, thankfully managed to get a booth. Incomplete order and luke warm cappuccino (charged more on bill than stated on menu ..). Sullen older lady with plaits serving, not a good experience for a £15+ breakfast.
