We have just returned from Les Noyeraies Du Lander where we spent a lovely couple of hours. We were welcomed by Julien, the owner, then Manolo took over and gave us the most interesting talk about walnuts from planting, growing, harvesting and all the many processes that goes to producing high quality walnuts and other products. We sampled different coated walnuts and a cake, all quite delicious. We bought some walnut oil to take back to England, which will also remind us of a great tour. Just to say Manolo made such an effort to translate each stage into English and was a real star.

We visited during the Confinement when we were allowed to travel 100 kms from home but before any restaurant activity. We took a picnic and were so delighted by this beautiful place. Boardwalks separating the different pools showing water lilies, lotus flowers, all manner of water plants and gorgeous koi fish in a beautiful setting with fountains playing - makes it a delight for children as well as adults. There were lots of shady places to sit, including the picnic spots. We were planning a small water garden at home and enjoyed buying our plants there with helpful advice and instruction from the friendly staff (possibly the owners). Delightful gift shop. All in all, a fabulous day out.

This Prehistoric cave from the Magdalenian era lies just a few kilometres east of Les Eyzies on the right bank of the Beune river. It was classified as a listed site in 1926 in recognition of its unique sculptures. The frieze covers all but two metres of the 15-metre deep cave and features horses, bison and deer, some of which overlap. Originally, the sculptures were probably coloured since traces of ochre pigment were found during earlier archaeological digs. The remarkable depth and vibrancy of these sculptures carved with flint tools make the Cap-Blanc Cave one of the greatest masterpieces of Prehistoric art from the Upper Palaeolithic period. A museographical area around the friezes gives an overview of Cap-Blanc life and art. Cave of the Vézère valley designated world heritage site by UNESCO. Open: > All the year with prior reservation. > Low season: to visit the cave, contact the reception centre at the Font-de-Gaume cave in Les Eyzies. > High season from 15th May to 15th September: reception on the site from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (last visit at 5 p.m.). I would agree with previous comments. We got our ticket at Font de Gaume and were told to arrive at 4 PM. We were the only people on the English tour. Takes about an hour to see these excellent examples of cave art.
