Flyleaf Books

Flyleaf Books is a general independent book store. We sell mostly new books but have a large used books section, too. We have a large children's book section and hold author readings 3-4 times a week. Check our website for the event schedule. Our pre-school storytime is every Thursday at 10:30am

Everyone should support independent bookstores such as this gem.  I came here on a complete whim.  We were having breakfast at the awesome Root Cellar restaurant next door to the bookstore.  I had to go to the car for something, and before I went back into the Root Cellar, I decided to stop in the bookstore to check it out.  What an amazing place!  Small enough so that you do not feel overwhelmed, yet big enough to stock so many wonderful things. I loved how the books are staged so that particular genre are grouped together on display tables and curated such that the vast majority of the books have staff recommendations attached or have concise staff reviews attached.  Just brilliant work! We loved this place so much that we ended up purchasing a few books.  Great, friendly staff and very helpful.  I cannot say enough about how much fun we had. The world needs places like this.  Bookstores are disappearing, especially independent ones.  If you are in the UNC area, make this a stop.  You can schedule a visit such that you can take a meal at either the adjacent Root Cellar or the nearby Kitchen restaurant.  Both are highly recommended. The bookstore is about a 10 minute drive from the main drag of Chapel Hill.  It's part of a dated strip mall complex, but please do not let the setting deter you from an amazing experience.

We visited this long-standing tradition the week it was closing. It had been a wonderful place to dine and shop, filled with so many wonderful foods, candies, wine and cooking tools. It is a sad day to say goodbye.
