Forest Lawn Memorial Park

This famous cemetery has dozens of fancy Hollywood tributes and exhibits, and it attracts over one million annual visitors.

Serene, beautiful setting for some of Hollywood's most famous. It is a working cemetery so it's important to be respectful as you'll find families visiting final resting place of loved ones. It makes for a great visit though as it is quiet and well maintained (it seems the hills are used by locals for hiking). The cemetery doesn't view itself as a tourist destination (no maps, etc) and there are too many famous graves to list, but do some research in advance to plan a route.

The Americana at Brand

There are some malls where you go to shop. That mall is conveniently located across the street. The Americana at Brand is an experience, and one worth repeating even when you have nothing to purchase. A trolley, elegantly choreographed water fountains, and curated green spaces invite you to enjoy the central square (much like a piazza) with your family. This is the perfect place to hang out while "the shopper" among you hits the stores. Not to be missed: the outdoor patio inside Barnes & Noble, and the rooftop bars and restaurants that give you the bird's-eye view of it all. And when hungry stomachs prevail, there are literally dozens of restaurants within a short walk.

Brand Park

We stopped here while sightseeing locally - mostly to see the public library in the old Brand house. The gates into the park are really neat and the library in the old house with its Moorish architecture is quite striking. Inside the library has occupied the old house leaving the old architectural details in place and decorating it with beautiful art. The library is full or comfortable furniture and would be a great place to just hang out and work. This is worth a visit

Deukmejian Wilderness Park

I'm always amazed on how many trails are in our local mountains. This was my first time to this trail and it was an enjoyable hike. This is an easy trail for beginners and is well marked and very popular on the weekend. We hiked on a cloudy day but if it was sunny we would've cooked under the sun because there aren't many trees shading the trails. They have begun to add tree seedlings along most of trails which is a great plus for our future hikers. There's plenty of free parking with few parking restriction signs.
