What impressed me most about this Spur was the attentiveness of the manager, ever enquiring but not overbearing. The spur is a small one and the staff friendly and efficient. I always go at any time of the day. Breakfast service is slow however lunch or dinner is adequate. Tables are sticky and should be cleaned further. Some waiters are putrid whereas others are brilliant. Other than that would recommend this. My wife & I are long time [over 10 years] members of a 12 person monthly dinner club - that on the last Thursday of 11 months of the year [excluding December] have a dinner out in the North Eastern suburbs of Johannesburg. March 28 was Hussars Grill, Waterfall Corner. First arrivals came at 18:30. Everyone there by 19:00.The bar had run out of Windhoek Draught beer - so after much persuasion they went to a bottle store in the center & procured some! It was 19:40 before starters orders orders were taken. Starters arrived around 20:10 and then main course orders were taken. Mains arrived around 20:30. Mine was good. BUT everyone else had bitter complaints: underdone, too fatty, 2 had fillet steak that had gristle in it! Steak ordered with English mustard only had it delivered 15 minutes after the dish had been served. No waitrons came in the interval and with the noisy environment, plus being in the furthest corner - we were out of sight. Management was called and our "leader" explained the inordinate delay and poor service. He was given a chocolate cream vodka drink & 2 complimentary bottles of wine were placed on the table. Finally some had desserts. The general consensus was it was the lowest rating dining experience our supper club had ever partaken in. Inordinately slow and then not attentive service: food quality in general was not relating to the top line prices charged. It was a sad let-down. Imbizo has opened up a new branch in China Mall Midrand. It is beautifully set up however I had to approach the waiters as we were being ignored. The food is pricey, the meat was tough, the ujeqe was dense, chakalaka cold and talk about portion control, it was like we were on the survivor island, rationing out our food. The wine selection is very limited, no printed drinks menu. It was an experience, not to be repeated anytime soon.
