We had family together from England, Perth, Adelaide and the Gold Coast and need somewhere for a big gathering with a mixture of aged greatgrandparents, grandparents, young parents and lots of children and babies. Schusters Park was perfect! We brought our own BBQ a found a spot just near the first carpark with a shady tree and lots of open space. Toilets were just a 50m walk away and a little sandy beach a few metres beyond that.

I have been visiting this spot since the early sixties when my relatives used to camp here. It’s one of the few places on the coast now that I regard as relaxing even if it can be tricky to get a park at popular times. The creek runs under the bridge and out to sea. The current can be quite swift at times and does create some holes. If you’re worried though or with young kids you can swim where the Neptunes patrol safely. The Neptunes have been here keeping us safe for as long as I can remember too. Or you can venture over to the lake area. Plenty to do here and lots of space. Swimming, fishing, boating, canoeing and just relaxing all spring to mind. There are good outdoor showers for a rinse and several change rooms. As a bonus the little cafe near the sport and Rec building does the best chips I’ve tasted in a long time. Topped with Maldon sea salt flakes. Also you can walk the picturesque Burleigh Mountain from the other side. Choice of low track - quicker and flatter or the high track- a bit steeper but great views.

If you want a decent course, with great natural surrounds and friendly staff I would recommend the course. Also value for money $18 for 9 holes and $28 for 18. Carts available if you want them
