I was really looking forward to visiting this impressive Romanesque church, but I walked around it and could not find any way in. Maybe it is just closed on Tuesdays, there were signs but I could not read them as they were only in French. I tried to ask for help at the city hall, which is attached to the building, but I could not find any person who was willing to speak to me or even look at me. So I peeked trough the windows and caught a few glimpses of what looked like a wonderful old cloister.
And then I left Nivelles disappointed, musing about the pettiness of the Belgian language struggle. Tourist go home!

parking is a nightmare as the lot has been designed by someone who, obviously, was not thinking straight. The shops are plain and not exciting at all.

A nice park where you can find a playground next to a bar where parents can relax. We went there on a sunny day. This means the place was crowded and the service was not great as the waiters had way too much work ;-) But with some patience and a smile, it was a nice moment

La perplexité envahit les esprits, quand il convient de définir la différence entre une "Maison du Tourisme" et un "Office du Tourisme".
Qui porte le message officiel ? Qui dispose des informations ou brochures les plus fiables, les plus actualisées, les mieux authentifiées ?
Ici et là, il y a du positif, du négatif. Les horaires et services ne concordent pas nécessairement. Et de surcroît, quand la presse locale évoque des fusions à court terme entre des services de Nivelles et de Waterloo, on avance à l'aveugle !
Regrouper, rationaliser, viser la plus grande efficacité, d'accord. Mais pas dans le flou actuel.
