The team at ultimate descents were extremely friendly and accommodating. We were fortunate to have the expertise of two guides - Sonny and Machi. The Natural Flames Experience - Day Tours

Really? Flames continually burning in a forest for over 90 years - why doesn't it burn down? See for yourself the extraordinary sight of dancing flames, fed by a natural gas seep, surrounded by lush ferns and ancient beech trees. Have ‘billy tea’ and pancakes cooked over the flames. Half-day trip includes two hour guided walk, 4WD transport and a visit to a working deer farm in a beautiful valley full of oil prospecting history.

It's great to get out into the bush which we have so much of around here. Our trip makes it a little bit easier for people to do that, providing the transport and the hot drinks :-)

Wild rivers rafting

Mart and Bruce are friendly, good instructors, safety conscious - very good guides for the novice (which our 3 were)....and fun.
And they provided useful advice on local tracks for those not rafting.
The Buller was fun (although a little tamer on this occasion than the Shotover a week later)

Lake Rotoroa

Reviewed By Marque01 - Hamilton, New Zealand

Lake Rotoroa is well worth making a 10km detour off SH6 enroute between Nelson and Murchison. It is an idyllic tranquil spot with stunning views across the 15km length lake towards the mountain ranges beyond, which were snow capped during our September visit. The lake is apparently good for fishing, popular for kayaking and swimming in the Summer months. The water is beautifully clear. An accommodation lodge overlooks the lake. Magnificent native bush with fine tree specimens surround the lake within the local National Park. Be prepared for sandflies if spending too long around the lake shoreline! Camping, cooking facilities and toilets are available for public use.
