I visited this a while ago, and I can't believe I never reviewed it! It was one of my most memorable experiences in Idaho.
I was in Idaho for work over the winter, and decided to venture out to the Springs and I'm glad I did! I booked a massage (which was awesome), and was provided in a warm yurt. After, I spent a few hours in the hot pool under a beautiful starry sky. It was so relaxing and beautiful. I recommend it to anyone.

I was amazed by how little we actually knew about the history of Idaho City, Boise and Idaho in general. This museum brought the story to life. Young kids up to teens will love this as much as adults. The docents are well versed and adjust the story to the audience. There are hands on displays that the kids loved. Plan on spending a couple of hours here.

This is a great stop in Idaho city. With plenty of art, gifts and souvenirs, this place has it all. Stop in and tour their art gallery and see in rare, authentic Van Gogh art piece. The owners are remarkable and always very hospitable.

The variety of items in their new location is great. We love buying from local stores whenever possible. This place has great prices on souvenirs and other miscellaneous gifts. The store owners are always so welcoming and friendly.

This visitor center is right along Idaho State Highway 21 (Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway) so it makes a great rest stop. There's a small museum with exhibits and a gift shop. Educational signs explain the mining history of the area, and some equipment is on display. There was even a pay phone- haven't seen one of those in a long time! Behind the building is a covered picnic area and a small pond. We parked there and walked up and down the historic main street of the town to see the old buildings and cemetery. We were there early in the morning in July, and it was cool and quiet.

It's NOT Lucky Peak. That means little parking, one-lane gravel/dirt roads frequently driven by half-drunk lunatics with boat trailers, and primitive areas. It also means the fishing, scenery and quiet is (not counting the aforementioned trailers) unspoiled and not flooded with people. So this isn't a place for the average tourist- there's no barista, few if any restrooms not involving "a tree", and your rat-dog might just get taken by an osprey. That said, if you like that kind of thing (or would LIKE to see someone's rat-dog get snatched by a fish eagle), this is a good place to be.
