March 23, 2018 Harland Bartelt

Immortalized by Hemingway in “Islands in the Stream,” Cayo Guillermo is perched on Cuba’s north coast between the Bay of Dogs and the Atlantic. It is home to four all-inclusive resorts. Five miles of fine white sand and gorgeous, clear green waters, including the spectacular Playa Pilar, offer picture perfect sunning spots. Fantastic snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities beckon from more than six miles of coral reefs. Flamingos and many other birds live in its lagoons, forest and jungle.

Cayo Guillermo

First time in Cayo Guillermo but second time in the Cayo’s of Cuba. Both areas were fabulous. They are on the Atlantic side but are surprisingly beautiful and clear. There are areas where there is seaweed ( soft and small) but there are also plenty of clear blue areas for swimming. We will definitely be returning to the Cayo’s.

Just 2 miles off shore Playa Pilar we have Isla (Isle Media Luna). Former Cuban President Batista used to have a house in this island. Now there's a restaurant and also a very nice snorkeling spot. there are a lot of hermit crabs in this island too.

My children 6 and 8 did the dolphin swim at this location. They had the best time and loved everything about it. The video and photo prices are reasonable. The dolphins are playful even with the spectators.

We had never scuba dived before coming to Cuba. Livan was offering lessons in the pool so we opted in, then arranged our dive the following day. My partner was confident and fine diving, I however was very nervous, Livan looked after me the whole way around from start to finish he persevered with me through my struggles and made my experience amazing. We even saw a shark! Big thank you to all at Coco diving centre especially Livan! Very professional and genuinely lovely man!

It was really amazing experience !!!
Me and my wife are totally new to Kitesurfing (Started Nov 2013). Although we did few classes before our trip to Cuba, we still could barely get on board and ,of course, were not riding at all.
First to mention are spot conditions. IT IS FREAKING IDEAL. Believe me, I know what I`m talking about. We started kitesurfing in Montreal, QC, Canada - so it`s always gusty and as a result - beginners can not easily get this precious feeling of kite control, especially when you try to get on board for the first time. Second problem: it`s always crowed, so all "kite zenith holders" don`t really have room to play with new toys. And of course you`re guys limited with shallow water area.
When we approached Kiteland Park spot for the first time, we were damn shocked !!! There were plenty of room with cristal clear shallow water to play. Surprisingly, there we not to many people in the water, or probably, it looked that way, because spot is extremely huge. Second, Wind was very consistent the whole week we were there (end of November 2013). I`m 100kg (220 pounds) guy, so I was using 12m for 4 days and 1 day I used 17m. However one day with 12m i was even overpowered.
But most important part of our trip is experience with POEPLE at the station. Both owners are really cool guys (Alex and Dima). Really funny, open minded and always eager to help. We stored our equipment with them and rented few pieces as well. We both had few really efficient lessons with instructors; and within first 3 days we were able to ride - awkward, but still. And believe me, after all those hours learning - it was something unforgettable.

Hotel. It was pretty good.
Service was amazing, food - acceptable.Clean.
We came the to learn kitesurfing, not to eat, right?
Hope, it will help you guys.
