A great half-day out. I visited on a Sunday morning and could see the castle perched on top of a hill from some distance as I approached. The box-office staff were very friendly and gave me directions on where I could lunch after my visit. The castle was a ruin which was rebuilt by the then owner with the assistance of an architect historian. There lots to see: Banqueting halls, a dungeon, and battlements to walk along and admire the view of the surrounding countryside. There are also costumes worn by the actors from the television series, game of Thrones, which had some scenes filmed in the castle. Recommended.

The Popular Athenaeum of Almodóvar del Rio since 1982 has its headquarters in this stately home, built in 1777 for the Natera family, with two floors distributed around a beautiful covered central patio and another uncovered backyard, an example of a typical "Cordobés Patio" with albero, orange and guitanillas.
