Been here before. We were here to support Belhaven University baseball. UMHB was the host. The parking lot, field, grounds, concession stand and restrooms were all perfectly clean and in good working order. The seating at the field has three sections of stadium seats. They are comfortable and clean. The whole area is clean, no trash, spills or unsightly mess. The concession stand has Gatorade, sodas, water, candy, popcorn, hot dogs and pretzels. It was all good according to my family and friends in attendance. The sound system is fantastic. They play good music ranging from oldies, pop and country. They honored first responders during 7th inning stretch. Both teams and their fans gave standing ovation. Before the game one day the first pitch was thrown out by a veteran, the team wore red, and blue shoestrings and white pants in a show of support. The next day a young girl struggling with the effects of a debilitating disease threw out the first pitch. Before she went out the Belhaven Head coach and several of his players spoke with her and gave her lots of attention. The UMHB coach and captains did as well as she stepped up to throw the pitch. Very good atmosphere. The teams competed well and were complimented by both sides fans for effort and plays. UMHB has always done a good job of presenting teams that play competitively and represent the schools philosophy and Christian tenets. Kudos go out to them.

Such a cute little local theater! The staff are friendly and kind. I’ve only been to their drive-in movies during the COVID-19 pandemic, but my husband has been before on a regular basis and really enjoys it. The prices are GREAT for a movie theater, and it such a fun atmosphere. I definitely will continue coming back!

Bell County Museum

This was a surprising jewel for a small/medium sized regional museum. I was greeted at the entrance by Steven Rise, a very friendly and knowledgeable staff member. The museum has quality collections of Native American artifacts dating back to the Clovis period and the earliest occupants of this part of America. This includes very interesting information and exhibits about PaleoIndians, their lifestyles, their diets and recent local excavations. The displays of cowboy culture include six superb Remington sculptures that are on loan to this museum. The second floor includes a unique history of a very early all-women utopian community that flourished in this region called the "Sanctified Sisters". It was a very interesting women-managed community built on the principals of women's rights, spirituality and assertiveness and it lasted over a 100 years. The museum admission is free or by donation, but the exhibits are first class and more accessible and interactive than most museums. I work at a museum in Vermont and I am a fan of museums. This is a very nice one and well worth a visit.

Stillhouse Hollow Lake is a great deep water lake in Central Texas. It is surrounded by USCE parks. It has great fishing spots, swim beaches, a marina, camping, picnic areas and scuba diving (there’s a dive shop open on the weekends at the marina). It’s a beautiful place for a family outing or to go relax and read a book.
