Kimbell Art Museum

Fort Worth's premier art museum, featuring paintings from international painters.

I’m a museum maven and was expecting a good one. But the delight was in the details. For starters the Renoir exhibition has some old favorites last seen elsewhere. It was the ambiance of warm proximity to the master that was different. And better. Visiting old favorites in a laid back space gave them a fresh look. As for the facility: Our backstage look at the careful planning and meticulously maintained structures where a sparkling new Renzo Piano pavilion suppléments the grandiose Louis Kahn galleries was accompanied by a wealth of happily shared expertise from the brilliant Senior Deputy Director. It will be interesting indeed to revisit the Reniors back at their more formal Clark home. As got the Kimbell-Go for the architecture. Stay for the attitude. How to feel at home, even cozy, in the presence of genius.

We've seen several different events at Bass Hall. Everything from The Nutcracker, to Mannheim Steamroller. This venue is amazing. It is truly a classy place with an intimate connection to the artists that perform. They have a varied and eclectic mix of shows while paying homage to the classics. We are never disappointed. The venue has great parking near by and is a short walk to sundance square. It is easy to make a night or afternoon of it, by enjoying a nice dinner near by or capping off the evening with an adult beverage. They have valet parking and a store inside usually themed to the show being presented.

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon. I stopped here on my way to Abilene, the price is very fair. I spent 2 Hours strolling the grounds, I would highly suggest purchasing the fish food because the koi in the ponds are huge and follow you around and were sorely disappointed when I had nothing to give them. Because of covid the only option is to purchase it for $2 in the lobby, they do not take Apple Pay and I left my money in my car because I did not anticipate needing it. Also all the fountains are covered and again they have water in the lobby and there is a cafe at the other end but nothing in between so plan accordingly. Loved the turtles.

Designed by Phillip Johnson, the Fort Worth Water Gardens is an architectural and engineering marvel to be enjoyed any time of the year. This little gem was found while walking away from a conference this spring. It is a large outdoor water garden with use of stone, trees, cement, sculpture and water to create playful art. It reminded me a little of Frank Lloyd Wright style in the use of these natural elements to create beauty. This is a area that you can enjoy day or night and with adults or kids. Their are interesting features, and often birds taking part o the water features, the kids found it nice to have a little area to stretch their legs while the parents enjoyed the sites. I have been here twice, once with kids and once with spouse, a great place for a little peace and interesting scenery.

Fort Worth Japanese Garden

Reviewed By Tally4 - Colorado, United States

We are in love with all things Japanese lately so visited this garden on a trip to Texas. It's fairly small, but beautiful and peaceful. You can buy fish food and feed the koi, and have a leisurely stroll. We spent about 1 1/2 hours there. There are restrooms near the entrance and on the far side, and a small gift shop. The exit is through the gift shop so save it until you're ready to leave. While we were there, a big crane-like bird was hanging around the pond, making it feel even more authentic. The only negative was that already in March there were lots of big wasps buzzing around the wooden structures.
