This was a great way to relieve our designated driver for a day and so glad we opted for this tour. A lovely little hike to see Pacaya Volcano close-up, we were the first party to ascend that day and glimpsed some lava. The views from the top were well worth it and taking El Arenal route on the descent was an adventure. After the hike, the Kawilal Spa was just the ticket! We even had the whole area to ourselves due to the pandemic, so all felt very safe. The smoothie and lunch there were also very delicious. Could have done with a tad more direction at times, but all part of the fun!

Elmer was without question the best tour guide I have ever had for a tour of ancient ruins. I have been to Machu Picchu, Angkor Wat and several other sites around the world with guides but Elmers knowledge of Tikal surpassed them all. His English is incredible too, being very easy to understand. If you are touring Tikal I highly recommend his services.

It was one of the most important Mayan cities in the late preclassic which is characterized by its monumentality when built, this can be clearly seen in one of the pyramids of the site and the largest in the Mayan civilization, the great Pyramid "La Danta" surrounded by a green sea of dense and virgin forest at the four cardinal points. Our Nun Bak Trek to the Mirador is 5 to 6 days to visit Tintal, La Muerta, La Florida, Wakná, Nakbé and one of the most important and well-known cities in the history of the great Mayan civilization, El Mirador. We will walk in the middle of the Jungle for 6 to 9 hours a day along a path mostly without heights or mountains since we are at 180 meters above sea level, a trek suitable for all audiences with resistance to walking more than 10 kilometers a day at a moderate pace. In this experience we have the opportunity to see diversity in flora and fauna of our country Guatemala, Mayan cities lost and devoured by the dense jungle of Petén

We had a multi day trek with Nelson in the Guatamalan jungle. He is so pasionated about his culture and speaks about it with enthousiasm. He is open for questions, which makes it possible to learn so much more about the rich history of the Mayans and Guatamalan life in 2020. He is actively studying current findings by local archeologists, showing his love for the job and wonderull herritage, making sure he knows his stuff. Nelson is so much fun, speaks English very well and you can see him enjoy every bit of culture and nature just as much as the tourists. He will make your trip fantastic! Thanks Nelson, for your stories. We have had the best time!

We were greeted by our tour guide Nathan Retana. Who was very friendly and spoke English very well. He was very knowledgeable about the Guatemala as he was driving us to Tikal. He pointed out land marks on the drive there. Once arriving at the Tikal site we entered and hiked into the park. We had walked up several steps to the first Mayan ruin it was very large and Nathan explained the history and how things are being restored. We told him we didn’t want to go to the top of the pyramid but we were more interested in bird watching so he whipped out his phone and had the app to show us every one we saw or heard. Then he took us down some of the less popular trails so we could listen for birds while we saw some less crowded ruins. Nathan also helped us with some Spanish while we bought some souvenirs at the park. He took us to the restaurant near the park exit which very good. After lunch he returned us to the border and called our other driver that was meeting us at the border so we didn’t have to wait and even waited until he knew we were good to go on the other side before he left us. I highly recommend Nathan Retana as your tour guide
