Up Manali, beyond Solang Valley , a new access to Rohtang La is provided by this tunnel cutting through high altitude rock mountains. Almost 9 km long , this really impressive feat of Indian engineering, serves strategic purposes basically for the armed forces. But for tourists it’s a thrill to pass through it, well lighted, supervised and safe with numerous emergency exits . It opens up just short of 2 km from Sishoo village. Thereafter the famous Rohtang pass is a merely 10 odd km away . Worth a visit.
