Florence is an art historian’s dream. The Galleria dell'Accademia bursts with works by Michelangelo, who is entombed within the frescoed walls of the Basilica di Santa Croce. Budding photographers can snap pics of the Ponte Vecchio bridge, and serious shoppers can spend a blissful afternoon wandering the shops of Piazza Santo Spirito. Tuscan cuisine pays homage to the region’s bounty. Swipe a hunk of crusty bread across a pool of local olive oil and you’ll be instantly transported to your happiest place.

What a great experience to spend a month at the FAS. Gary and his team were so giving with their knowledge and expertise. The tuition was intense and at times, it was a bit like drawing bootcamp but I wouldn't change that at all. I would not have thought that it was possible to improve my drawing and 'seeing' skills in such a short time. Such a beautiful, well organised and centrally located studio, I challenge anyone not to improve their artistic skill set. Will definately be back.

I was in Florence with my husband for a conference. I saw this 3 hour painting session and thought i would give it a try. I haven't painted for a long time and wanted to get back into it. As soon as Frank met me at the door and Laura welcomed me while she finished the class before mine, I was hooked. It felt like home, they are an amazing couple artistically and personally. I learned so much and plan to go back in the future.

I had a very satisfying two weeks in July 2019 at the Il David Institute. It is more than just a language school, it is a welcome in Florence, an integration into the cultural and social life of the city that is offered to us. Students of all ages and origins meet there, in an enchanting setting, cared for by a highly experienced organization. The courses are given in small groups, by teachers who are very attentive to the needs of everyone, but who are also very knowledgeable about the language and its didactics. It is their competence, as well as the good atmosphere in the courses and at the Institute, that has enabled me to make great progress in the acquisition of the Italian language. I highly recommend the Il David Institute. And thank you to all of you who hold this very special place.
