Our restaurant with its outdoor terrace offers not only a unique view, but also a rich selection of dishes of the highest quality. Especially pasta and steaks belong to our specialty.

We've been twice and the second time was even better than the first. The restaurant is comfortable, light & airy. You can watch the barges go by on the Main. The service for us is good & friendly, apparently not for everybody if you believe the reviews. Wine & beer are good. The food is good. The meats are well cooked and of high quality. You need to work through the menu to determine what it is you like. The deserts are very good. If we were to criticise at all it would be that the starters don't match what comes after. Is it expensive? It's not cheap, but we frequent restaurants who ask much more. The reviewers who seem to expect wagyu beef for a low price might need to adjust their expectations to reality.

I arrived at 9:15 on a Tuesday. Hours said open until 12 AM. Stylish restaurant. Asked for a drink. A small salad to start, main course..chicken with risotto. Was told the âkitchen was closingâ and that the portion of the main course was âbigâ so I shouldnât have a salad. 30 minutes later a couple showed up. Multiple plates on their table 20 minutes after that. Whatâs the deal? The main course was very nice, normal portion. Shame about the service. This is a lovely restaurant in a beautiful town. There are many restaurants in Hochheim, but this one caught our eye because of the lovely courtyard and we were not disappointed! The food and choice was excellent and plentiful (too much really!) accompanied with an excellent bottle of local Riesling. We dined outside in the courtyard and there is another lovely seating area up stairs. Service was very good and the prices were very reasonable would recommend it.

With many restaurants on vacation during August, we found ourselves at the Favorite de Gastronomie for a special dinner, thanks to Viamichelin.com, Gault/Millau, and Tripadvisor. A very happy accident, and a very enjoyable 'surprise' dinner of 5 courses. Highlights included scallops accented with mango and papaya (a Summery treat), a delectable entree of macadamia-crusted venison filets in a red wine sauce, and a visit from the talented and personable young chef, Philipp Stein, currently the youngest holder of a Michelin star in Germany. Service was mostly adequate, lackadaisical at times, but friendly and welcoming. The dining room overlooks the confluence of the Main and the Rhein, with river, train, and automotive activity at key Mainz crossings. A pleasant place to dine, even if the food weren't so delicious.
