I have fond memories of sitting outside of the Woolpack with my dad as we walked back home from town. I'd have 'a cowboy drink' and a bag of crisps, dad a pint of mild and his pipe.Fast forward about 55 years and I still had that same feeling when I went there recently with some friends.Don't expect a glitzy gastro-pub, no, The Woolpack is much better than that. It has the look and feel of a 'local', somewhere that you can go and relax, whist enjoying a drink and some lovely food.We felt welcome by the staff who were attentive, helpful and engaging. We particularly liked their respectful informality where they would spend time to have a chat and a joke, but without over-doing it. Special mention to Bessie.We each had a two course meal and everything was wonderfully well cooked, nicely presented and came in very generous portions. I won't recommend anything because everything is just so good.There was no pressure on us to leave and we spent a good 3 or more hours just chatting and relaxing. Even our dog was totally chilled until sausages appeared for her.The Woolpack is definitely on our list of the top 5 pubs local to use in east Ipswich.

Last time I came here, I was a little disappointed with the food. This time it was better. Really enjoyed my burger. Fairly quiet when I arrived but began filling up in the evening. Very popular venue. Has a good loyalty card. Good friendly bar service. Will return.

Arrived and was greeted by very friendly staff, who where helpful and polite. Sat our party and quickly took our drink order. Gave us plenty of time to decide and explained their special board.Our meals arrived and everyone ordered something different from the Sunday menu. Everyone enjoyed our meals and desserts where delicious. Will be going back.

This is a beautiful pub, offering superb food and fantastic service for a very fair price. Went at the weekend for a birthday meal and all of us were very impressed. Three courses for £25 with a lovely selection of starters. I had pakora and would have that again. We all had a roast for main, loads of veg and the beef was cooked to perfection. Desserts were delicious, with plenty of tasty options. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs, which made the visit all the more enjoyable. Cannot wait to go back! Visited on a Thursday evening with friends, had a drink at the bar before being seated in the restaurant area, very tastefully decorated with a relaxed ambiance. Opted for main courses of steak burger, pork belly and sausage and mash and offered complimentary bread to nibble on. The food arrived promptly on warm plates and nicely presented. The food was of a great standard and tasty, my friend who had the marmite and cheese flavoured pork sausages particularly enjoyed them. Finished with desserts and coffee. I understand the Brewers has recently been included in a national good pub guide and can understand why, certainly recommended.

We have visited on several occasions and as usual the service and food were faultless. We were a party of five for lunch, each of us ordered different items from the menu and everyone commented on how much they had enjoyed their choices. The young man who served us was professional and friendly which was an added bonus to a delightful setting and delicious luncheon.
