Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Ilkley civil parish includes the adjacent village of Ben Rhydding and is a ward within the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council. Approximately 12 miles (19 km) north of Bradford and 17 miles (27 km) northwest of Leeds, the town lies mainly on the south bank of the River Wharfe in Wharfedale, one of the Yorkshire Dales.

Clip and climb is handily placed in the centre of Ilkley near the station. It offers over a dozen different climbs. The children are supervised and has a safety instruction before putting on a safety harness that is clipped to a rope on a counter balance pulley that encourages them to make climbs of varying degrees of difficulty. For younger children they initially needed help attaching themselves to the safety ropes but with practice became more adept. The sessions are 3o minutes or an hour and it is advisable to book in advance,which can be done online.for parents there is a viewing gallery which is served by a small cafe. The staff were very friendly and helpful. An enjoyable and worthwhile visit.

Beginning as a bit of fun for our family, we now enjoy designing clue trails around towns and villages for others to enjoy. Giving both locals & visitors alike a fun way of exploring the lovely area whilst giving them a challenge along the way! Enjoyed by all ages!!
