Dwejra Marine Environmental Education Centre

Situated a mere few metres from Dwejra’s inland sea, the environmental education centre acts as the perfect accompaniment to a site of such natural complexity and interest. Dwejra has its own centre on location where anyone – divers, tourists, swimmers, children – can learn about what is special about Dwejra’s underwater landscape.

Loved “taking a scuba dive without getting wet” in this small, interesting center! The video was beautifully done and truly did let us visit the incredible undersea world around Dwerja. Learned so much more about Maltese marine life in a very entertaining format for adults and children. There is a great pictoral story of the erosion of the azure window from 1879 until its final disappearance. One of the very best parts of the visit was talking to Annie, the staff member on duty. She shared delightful stories of childhood days at the inland sea with her grandfather, which instilled in her a passion for the natural surroundings, land and sea, on this lovely island. As you walk down to the inland sea – don’t walk by without stopping in!

For everyone this is a must visit special place. It is quite a walk, especially in scuba gear; well worth it just take care. The diving is spectacular and there is a surreal feeling on the way back as you surface for your safety stop as you see snorkelers and swimmers venturing 5m down; it feels like Atlantis must have felt

Amazing place. We liked it most in the Gozo. Beautiful scenaries, including the inner sea, ruins of Azzure window and famous blue hole. Went there by gozo sightseeingbus. 45 minutes is enough time to see these famous places in Dwejra bay and get going, but if you really want to see everything stay for longer.

Inland Sea

We discovered this place by 'accident' as we were driving around the island. It is amazing, for a mere 4euro you can take a boat trip through the natural arch into the sea which is the bluest any of us have ever seen, as if someone had tipped a bottle of ink into the water, incredible. We swam in the 'inland sea' but it is a place to dive , equipment can be hired. There is ample parking , a great restaurant where we had a stunning lunch of locally caught grilled fish.....also a small bar/cafe right beside the water where we enjoyed a local beer.

Dwejra Tower

The Dwejra Tower was built in 1652 and is one of the Lascaris Towers. Originally, the intention behind its construction was for it to act as a watchtower and guard the surrounding areas from oncoming enemies, most especially pirate landings. In 1999, renovation was completed by Din l-Art Helwa and it is now open for the public.

The tower is another off the coastal defences built around Malta and Gozo. Unfortunately we didn't have time to go in but the views are stunning and must he pretty spectacular after climbing the tower
