Just a short walk from Waikiki this place has a little sand beach and lots of reef great for fishing, snorkeling or a simple lunch.

Pass on by the mass of people at Wakakiki beach and check this wonderful place. Really nice grass area with picnic tables, very large and clean public bathrooms and a good place to swim, surf and snorkel. Because this beach curves away, you can get an amazing photo of Wakakiki beach and the hotel row and Diamond Head too. There are a lot of reasons why this is a local favorite. I saw so many tropical fish just standing in the water.

Can't miss this huge park right beneath Diamond Head. Favorite location for local festivals in sesason.. Soccer team practices and matches for the kiddies. Honolulu zoo is right here.

Great little beach just on the other side of the zoo from the main part of Waikiki beach. While certainly not undiscovered, the beach is definitely less crowded than those on the main Waikiki beach, and there is more of a local/family vibe. Sandy ocean floor and fairly shallow water makes for nice swimming, and there is a reef that starts around 20-30 yards out, extending across most of the beach, where you can see some nice fish. We snorkeled twice here, and one time was so-so, while the other was actually pretty decent— just depends on the waves/sediment factor. A Hawaiian monk seal had hauled out onto the beach the second morning we were here, so there’s a chance to see some wildlife.

Beaches are my ????. Clear beautiful water. Nice waves to enjoy. Great for snorkeling. There’s a lagoon for small children or for wading. Not too crowded like Waikiki Beach. There’s a shower and bathroom near by. Two volleyball nets close by as well.

Just finished this hike, about 7,500 steps and 700 ft elevation. Not for older folks with breathing/heart issues. Not for babies/strollers Most of the hike is gradual sidewalks but there are definitely long periods of steep steps, steep rough slippery rocky terrain. Many places to stop and rest along the way. There is a bathroom/refreshment area about 2/3 into the park. It’s the only bathroom. Pretty clean given it’s a park. $5/person admission (when walking). You can take backpacks without issue. Can drive until the bathroom with fee for parking. Metal railings are present along the entire hike parts to help you out. Again, would not recommend if you have heart/pulmonary/respiratory/asthma. An elderly lady had to be life flighted out near the top. Unknown reason. There’s also a tunnel, open at both ends, so beware to claustrophobics. Wear shoes and socks, not sandals. Bring binoculars, hats, sunglasses, hiking sticks, and your camera. Might sprinkle a little. Amazing, once in a lifetime views at the top. Not very windy so can get hot. Highly highly recommend. Many kids (3+) completed climb with rest along the way. Took us anoint 2-3 hours end to end. We did this on Saturday am, first went to KCC farmers market (not bad, majority local produce, some hot treats and food. Can’t eat on grounds. Not huge by any means, nice people. They take Apple Pay/cards). Must see!!
