We arrived for lunch at 1:30 pm ahead of a 2:30 lunch-closing time we found posted on a website and were informed that only carry-out was available after 1:30 (their hours were being changed). Since we had traveled some distance, the proprietress apologized for the 3rd party website misunderstanding and served us with a most delicious lunch complete with exquisitely carved vegetable flowers. In addition to their well-prepared food, there was an oriental graciousness that added to our lunch. As chance would have it, we were there a second time a week later and joined a reasonably-sized lunch crowd. This visit confirmed our earlier delight. Just confirm their hours! So excited to have you ladies here. We are almost lost a couple of great customers from Toledo if we were closed a bit earlier. We are looking forward to see you folks come more often. Deeply thanks for your so warm and kindness review.

Being from the area, I had always wanted to check out this place. It is a cozy restaurant with historical personality. I thought about getting the lunch special, but then decided on the salad bar with two soups. The lettuce is very high quality - dark greens only, no cheap head lettuce. While there isn't a huge selection of other items, everything you have to choose from is delicious and great if you are a fan of eating healthy. While I only had the appetite left to try one soup, it was definitely very tasty - most likely homemade. I will be going back to try other items when I am back in town.

Sauder Village

We treated our 3 grandchildren (ages 5, 7, 9,) to an overnight stay at Sauders Village. After checkin we enjoyed the pool and started the next morning with the breakfast buffet and headed to the village. We had a Groupon ticket for admission 4 of us and children under five were free. They also have a Facebook page which informs of any special discounts for the day as well as daily activities. We literally spent the full day at the Village. The day was spent traveling through the shops, barns, houses and buildings at a leisurely pace. At each stop we were met by staff dressed in period clothes with a short presentation full of facts and interesting narrative. Many of the staff were of the age past retirement and their experience and maturity definitely made a positive impact on our experience. The grounds are well kept and clean. The restrooms were spaced out around the village and not a far walk from where ever you are. They village was entertaining and educational for all ages. The grandkids enjoyed watching the goat milking presentation where they allowed anyone who wanted to milk a goat. They also enjoyed playing with the resident barn kittens who were most cooperative cuddling with them. At the end of the day I asked the kids what they liked the most and here is their list, the spinning demonstration, kittens, wooden toys, ceramic shop, train ride and buggy ride. The train ride and buggy ride were not included in the price of admission but at $2 per person it was affordable. We spent more time at the wooden toy shop where the kids could play with all of them. We took the train and got off at a stop in the back of the village by the barns planning on finishing our ride at the conclusion of the day. As we were waiting for our return trip a gentleman in a golf cart informed us the train had had a breakdown and he would give us a ride to wherever we wanted. Since we were headed out he took us all the way to our car! Thank you Sauder Village for your hospitality. We had a most great day.

We stopped in for lunch when we were visiting Archbold and were surprised at the loveliness of this diner. This restaurant is hands above the traditional American Diner in decor, cleanliness, freshness of the food, and tastiness. The hand tossed pizza was great and the small summer salad easily fed the both of us. We will return when we visit this town once again.
