Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum

For my third visit I got to see two great exhibits: Drawn to Presidents (Drew Friedman) and Ladies First (many cartoonists). The Friedman exhibit has great cartoons of George W Bush, Obama, Trump and others. He's a master of caricature. Ladies First samples a century of female cartoonists, from suffrage cartoons to newspaper comic strips (Brenda Starr, Sylvia, For Better or Worse, etc.) as well as work that appeared in magazines, underground comics and graphic novels. It's a lot to take in but the artwork is really compelling. I particularly liked The Hannah Story, by Carol Tyler. Check it out! If you're in the area, it's a no brainer. Plus there's more artwork in the main gallery, including some Calvin & Hobbes originals by Bill Watterson.

I attended a conference (headquartered in the Hyatt) and trade show in the Convention Center this month. The location is great. Easily accessible from the airport by public transportation or other services. There are many hotels and restaurants within walking distance. Best of all is the beautiful convention center.
