These were some of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen. We had a amazing ride in the heart of winter and it couldn’t have been more picturesque. Regardless of the time of the year that you visit Devils Thumb, you should definitely plan to visit the stables and go on a horse ride.

What a treat for golfers. 3 different 9-hole courses: Meadow, Ridge, and Ranch. We played Ridge and Ranch. The Ridge course offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, lots of elevation changes across the holes. Ranch was more open with equally spectacular views. At one point on the Ranch course, we were treated to the sound of nearby coyotes calling to each other across the valley. Very cool. We hit the right time for fall colors as well. The course was in great shape (Sept, 2020). Greens were beautiful, but fast. Lots of contour to play with. Very accessible to visitors - not too expensive. Free range balls with green fees. Very friendly staff. The restaurant itself offers beautiful views. Food, I would say, is average, maybe even less so for dinner. Staff is very friendly. If you are a golfer, do yourself a favor and play Pole Creek.

After a day of corduroy at Winter Park, we made a much-deserved stop at Ranch Creek Spa at Devil’s Thumb Ranch. We were greeted warmly by the welcoming front desk team, who had our private coat cubbies and slippers waiting for us. Stepping inside Ranch Creek Spa is a journey into well-appointed rustic serenity. Spacious yet cozy. Rustic yet luxurious. Quiet yet conversation inducing. Our spa services were outstanding. We both enjoyed 50-minute massages delivered by caring, experienced, and highly-skilled therapists (thank you Leslie and Chantal!). Both keyed into our individual therapeutic needs, which was so appreciated after a day on the slopes. We then took advantage of the outdoor hot tub (gorgeous views), sauna, and aromatherapy room before getting ready for dinner. Though we were only at the Ranch Creek Spa for a few hours, we felt like a day was added onto our quick trip to Winter Park. If you find yourself in the area, find a reason to try Ranch Creek Spa.
