Suesca is a town and municipality in the Almeidas Province, part of the department of Cundinamarca, Colombia. It is located on the Altiplano Cundiboyacense at 59 kilometres (37 mi) north from the capital Bogotá. Suesca forms the northern edge of the Bogotá savanna and is a scenic countryside town which is well known because its landscape attracts devotees of rock climbing, trekking, and rafting. It is surrounded by dairy farms and flower plantations. The municipality borders Cucunubá and Lenguazaque in the north, Sesquilé in the south, Chocontá in the east and Nemocón and Gachancipá in the west.

If you're a rock climber or just like to walk, don't miss this place.
Suesca itself is not pretty but it does have some small hotels for travellers.
Located about 5 miles from the Sisquile turn off the Autopista Norte to Tunja and accessible by bus from Bogotá.
We had an excellent lunch at the Pica Pizza Restaurant located just before crossing the bridge over the unpolluted River Bogotá. If you pass the bridge, you have gone too far.
The Cazuela was loaded with fresh seafood and was definitely the best I've tasted anywhere in Colombia. And the Glazed Salmon was mouthwateringly excellent. Ricardo Cortez owner and chef does a great job and the service is good without being intrusive. The menú is extensive with something for everyone. Good wine list.
We walked off the lunch by heading alongside the railway track which runs beside the river and the cliffs. Climbing lessons are offered next to the restaurant and cost from $20,000 pesos.

I had absolutely amazing full day rock-climbing experience with Suesca Outdoor Experience. Juan Fernando Peterson is a great professional guide. He gave me clear instructions and support which I needed as a beginner. The routes were quite possible to deal with for beginners but challenging enough at the same time. The price was reasonable. Juan Fernando is a very enthusiastic person who loves what he does and can motivate to continue the activity.
I hope I will return to Suesca one day to climb with Juan Fernando again and highly recommend Suesca Outdoor Experience to anyone.

Climb in one of the most important rock climbing places in South America. All the climbing equipment is included. You will learn different rock climbing techniques and how to use the equipment BEGINNER CLIMBERS: You learn the basic equipment of rock climbing, climbing modalities and basic climbing techniques. Otto and his Juan Gordo brewery is an amazing jewel lost in the Bogota "Country Side". The Suesca region is great for walks, views, rock-climbing and now.... brewing beer :)
We spent a great day amongst friends and learnt how to brew! The setting of the brewery is also breath-taking. It's located in a beautiful boutique hotel, that I highly recommend staying in. Enjoy!
