Kurt Huß, the grandfather of today’s company owner, has laid the foundation stone of the HUSS incense cone production in the village of Neudorf in the heart of the Erzgebirge, a famous mountain range in south-east Germany. In order to earn a bit on the side in economically hard times he started to produce incense cones out of fine charcoal and natural resins at home after work and together with his family in 1928/29. The ‘Weihrichkarzle’, how the incense cones are called in the dialect of the mountaineers until today, were solely made by hand. In the 1950s Kurt Huß finally founded his own incense cone producing company, however, with his dead in 1970 the company was shut down. His son Siegfried continued the good tradition and carried on producing incense cones at home after work in spite of scarce economy and short supplies. In the beginning of the 1990s Jürgen Huß, the grandson of Kurt Huß, reopened the HUSS incense cone producing company.
