In the center of Uelsen just opposite the old church is Altes Rathaus, which not only served as a townhall, but as a school as well. The building is from 1649, was renovated in 1770s, escaped demolition in the 1960s to eventually get its present destination as a municipal center with a tourist office and a wedding hall. Charming architecture, not designed to impress upon people.
