This whole town is so charming that going to see just the lighthouse is impossible. It’s like trying to eat just one potato chip: you can’t do it.
After our fabulous lunch at the Hawgs Breath Saloon, we wandered south on Queen Street and did a bit of shopping. At Harbour Street, we admired the mural of Kincardine Harbour, as well as the trompe l’oeil/ faux window balconies on the side of the Artemis Art Supplies building. Further down Harbour Street, we passed the Erie Belle restaurant with its British telephone box. At the corner of Huron Terrace, there’s the Walker House museum and a commemoration plaque to the Phantom Piper (lovely story!).
A wooden staircase between the bridge and the lighthouse took us down to the Geddes Park Trail, where you get the best views of the lighthouse and the harbor. Taking the trail to the left (south) brought us back to Queen Street at the Queen’s Lookout Park. Across the street is the Kincardine Centre for the Arts, including the Victoria Park Gallery and Goessell Memorial bell. And right there on the corner of Durham Market Street South is a commercial building (the “Town Centre”) with the funkiest trompe l’oeil artwork I’ve ever seen.
We finished up our walk with a loop around Victoria Park to admire the band shell, Fountain and other features. Before we returned to our car, we ducked into the Kincardine Public Library for a pit stop. As we exited, another mural above the Bruce Telecom building bid us farewell with a cheery, “Will ye no come back again.” I definitely hope I will.

The best part of the sandy beach across from the harbour is not safe for swimming due to the occurrence of rip current. There are finally signs up stating its a no swim area; please pay attention to this. The boardwalk and Gardens are beautiful to stroll along however, the beach is not as good as it used to be due to an overgrowth of natural grasses which has almost totally consumed the beach area in many places. Advertising stating we have the best Beaches is not true in my opinion, and I am not alone in this. I would be very disappointed arriving at a beach that is not what it is advertised to be. Port Elgin, Southampton, and Sauble Beach are far better options as their Beaches are well groomed. If Kincardine Council ever decide to listen to its residents and apply to cut back the natural grasses to improve and regain our beach areas, I would be happy to rate this beach again.

I have been to this museum a few times in the past but today I had my own private tour by Serafin. She is a very knowledgeable young lady who grew up in the area. This is her summer job while taking history at Ottawa U. She brought the Walker House alive for me.
I strongly recommend that anyone who is interested in local history pay a visit to the museum & hope Serafin is available .

This zoo is a private zoo but is actually closed...sort of. They offer tours for a donation which are organized through their facebook page. Animals range from fox, bear, deer, two lions, two tigers, turkeys, alligators, pigs, goats, sheep, different types of monkeys, snakes, etc. The tour is approx 2 hours and offers an up close and personal tour of this private collection of animals. I would recommend this over a large zoo much like the Toronto Zoo any day. The exhibits are small but animals well cared for. Our kids had a ton of fun here and are asking to go back again already, even though we were there less than a week ago. Highly recommend. There is no food or drink available. Its on a private farm so its what you expect.

Victoria Park Gallery and Gift Shop is a non-profit incorporation established in 2001 by a small group of enthusiastic artists. It is located in Kincardine's historic former Town Hall at 707A Queen Street. There are many member artists and artisans creating work from a wide variety of mediums including - oils, watercolour, acrylic, wood, glass, silk, photography, jewellery and clay. There is a wonderful variety of original cards for every occasion and something for every budget. Special exhibits by guest artists are displayed throughout the year.

It was a treat to drop in here during our first stop in Kincardine. The hostess was welcoming and so helpful in telling us about the place and points of interest in Kincardine! An eclectic range of art and merchandise along with an interesting photographic exhibit made this stop a highlight of our Kincardine experience,
