The Distant Whistle Brewhouse

A simple but VERY FRIENDLY atmosphere!! My wife and I have been there several times, and each time we say how much we like it there. It's far from fancy... just very pleasant. The brews are very good and there's popcorn and pop for the kids as well as games for them to play. Their anniversary party was GREAT!!! Lots of beer, food truck was great and great entertainment. Stop in for a quick one, or stay for a while and play your favorite music from the many vinyl albums available from which to choose.

At the time this course was played there was a limited amount of development along a few holes. The undulated practice green – just outside the small pro shop – was a good indication of how the greens on the course putt…fast. A long bridge leads from the clubhouse to the course; another long bridge leads to the driving range. Coolers are furnished with drinks that are purchased at the halfway house, located behind the 9th green. The battery powered cart ran proficiently. Most greens are massive in size. Overall, the course was in great condition. Numerous holes require precise shots…in both trajectory and distance. The scorecard has illustrations of each hole, with the yardages – from each tee – to reach key portions of the fairways. Listed below is an overview of some holes and quick tips – if playing here for the first time: Hole #1 Sand-like waste areas – that are lower than the fairway – flank most of the left side of the fairway, leading to a huge green that climbs upward towards the back. A great opening hole. Hole #4 From the Black tee box, a long and accurate carry is required. A ring of sand awaits if the drive is not long enough or is even slightly to the right. Hole #6 From the Black tee box, this appears to be the first blasé hole on this course…until the green. Know the exact position of the flagstick for a good chance at scoring par. Hole #11 From the Black tee box, aim the tee shot to the left side of the fairway, but not too far left. Precise distance is compulsory. Hole #12 This a long par 3 that has a green on an upward slope, with sand guarding most of the front. Know the exact location of the flagstick. This is one of the more challenging par 3s. Hole #15 Target golf will be fully utilized at this hole… with water dominating the right side. The Black tee box is raised just enough to see the layout of the fairway. Hole #18 From the Black tee box, a long and very accurate drive is required to reach an ideal segment of the narrow, undulating fairway. Sand and mounds on the right and foliage on the left keep this fairway tight until reaching the very deep green. There is a big drop off on the left side of the green. What a finish! This is one of the best courses in southern Michigan and is recommended for experienced golfers.
