This is one of my favorite outdoor activities near Valentines - acres of daffodils, a camera, and a love of nature make for a perfect day.

Paul Boorman Trail

I am proud of Longview for constructing this pretty walking and exercising park. It posts information on the native inhabitants, which would interest children and adults. The trees and fauna are beautiful, and it features wooden bridges over a quaint little creek.
It is not far from my house, but it stretches from Hwy 80 to the west loop.
My only hope and concern is that businesses are not going to be constructive along the road in front of the trails. That would make me so sad to see these beautiful trees cut down, and would certainly detract from the serenity of this wonderful park.

East Texas Oil Museum

This museum is just one building, although it seems to be packed with elaborate, professional dioramas. However, the associated website was not clear about the fees. Current rates are about $8 adults & $5 children. The young lady at the front entrance was a very gracious hostess.

The Gladewater Museum

The Gladewater Museum displays tell the story of Gladewater and the surrounding areas from the early settlement days through the 1930's and beyond.

I was lucky to have a guided tour by the Director, Mrs. Roddy. She and the staff have done a great job collecting old pictures and postcards for the 1930's and creating interesting and informative displays covering local history, the East Texas Oil Boom, Capt. Manuel T. "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas and the Texas Rangers, and a special exhibit on Elvis Presley and Gladewater. I had a great time and look forward to visiting again. Recommended as part of a visit to the "Antique Capitol of East Texas".

The Gladewater Opry

Reviewed By Duane27 - WHITEHOUSE

The Gladewater Opry performs every Saturday night. They have a number of country artists backed by a house band. Usually the 1st half of the show consists of two songs by each performer, there is a short intermission, and the 2nd half of the show consists of each artist coming back for one more number. Members of the band also occaisionally do numbers.

The band, Texas Smoke, is very good. The performers vary from good to extremely good. There is a different lineup of 8 - 9 performers each night. A small concession area with popcorn, cokes, and candy is in the lobby.

I go once or twice a month, it's always an entertaining show, if you like country music, which lasts from 8:00pm until about 10:30.

Occaisionally there are special "The '50's" shows, or other theme shows, and once a year they have an awards show awarding performers for the past year.

It's a neat little show if you are close Gladewater.

Skydive East Texas is a full service dropzone serving the Shreveport Louisiana, Longview, Tyler and Dallas, Texas areas with professional skydive instruction.

Reviewed By TexasFight1979 - Tyler, Texas

I called needing to book a trip for my wife and I for her birthday. The female on the phone was very unhelpful and rude. I was told sky diving is nothing like Walmart and maybe I should call some where else. I asked if I could speak to someone else and was told no, I should just come by on the weekend. Sent an email discussing my concearns and experience and never heard back. She wouldn't answer any of my questions. I called their competitors as instructed. Prepaid $600 and jumping this weekend.
