マルセイユの東のサント・ボーム山塊:Massif de la Sainte-Baumeの裾野に『ピヴォの氷室:Glacoere Pivaut』があります。駐車場から10分ほど、シダや松林のなかを歩いくと、1990年に1つだけ復元された氷室があります。このあたりは17世紀中頃から20世紀初めまで17個も氷室が建てられて、冬に切り出された裏手の池の氷を保存し、夏場にマルセイユやトゥーロンへ氷を売りに行っていたそうです。保管中に溶け出した水を川へ流す排水溝から氷室の中に入って見ることが出来ます。排水溝は暗いので、中に張る場合は懐中電灯も持って行くと良いでしょう。
近くにはマグダラのマリアが隠遁生活を送った洞窟もあるので、洞窟訪問の後に少し足を延ばして見学してください。
