Waterfall Way

Reviewed By CodyMav - Gold Coast, Australia

Sunday drive material. A gently meandering road through stunning lush green landscapes, and a number of waterfalls you can stop to enjoy or walk. Just outside of Belligen, the road hugs the river before bringing you to 2 roadside waterfalls in Newell and Sherrard. Not a lot of opportunity to stop or safely take those roadside ones in. Dorrigo National Park has a tourist centre with a Skywalk, and well formed tracks to hike to Crystal Falls along the Lyrebird Track

Saumarez House is beautifully preserved and the stories of family life are fascinating. The video and tour were informative and fascinating. It helped us understand the history of this area. We enjoyed the garden, although it was during the drought and we saw a snake. Will wear enclosed shoes next time. Then we indulged in Devonshire tea, featuring superb home made scones. All the volunteers were friendly and had a wealth of information which they readily shared. Next, we went down to the farm and photographed the rustic buildings and machinery. We will be back, bringing friends and family to enjoy this wonderful experience.

This was one of the stops on the Guided Heritage Tour taken from the Armidale Visitor Centre. As the stop also enabled us to visit the next door Aboriginal Cultural Centre we lost time in this venue before heading to the Art Museum where we then had limited time to take in the wonderful art on display here. Hence, we returned by car that same afternoon and did a separate and longer visit to be able to really appreciate these works of art collected by 1 man. If you don't have time to make a separate visit and only do this whilst on the bus tour, make sure you leave time to have a good look here first.

I visited about a year ago and stayed in the Guesthouse. The sparkling wine served with dinner was spectacular, so passing through Armidale again, I had to stop at this Cellar Door to grabs a few bottles. Prices are quite reasonable, and buy a case to enjoy a bakers dozen
