Mermaid Leather

Australias only commercial fish leather specialist began in 1989 as a hobby a family owned and operated business we harvest fish skins from the commercial fishing industry as waste and convert them into leather via our specialised tanning system then make leather goods from the resulting leather, it is beautiful to look at, robust and hard wearing, and doesn`t smell fishy, all from food waste!

Up in Broome I bought a purse, made by Mermaid Leather. I loved the green and the texture of the leather. It was more than 10 years ago and my wallet is still in perfect condition. It has of course been in and out of my handbag on a daily basis, rough treatment really, and the Barramundi leather has worn and worn. There is no discolouration, it looks as new inside and out. The quality is worth every cent. I am so impressed with the whole approach of the company, it is terrific to see a local company innovating and employing people in skilled positions, and producing such a good product. Good on you in Esperence! (obviously the date I have put in is wrong, we visited in maybe 2010. But the "When did you go?" only gives dates in 2020.

Frenchman's Peak

Reviewed By limeclaw - Perth, Australia

Stunning views from the top or even half way up the summit. It is a hard walk and the climb is very steep in some area's of the summit so it is for people that are quite fit. The walk/climb gets very hot and it is very dry, and I would not set out without good walking shoes, sunscreen and water. It does offer amazing views and loads of plant life along the walk.
