Vaasa (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈʋɑːsɑ]; Swedish: Vasa, IPA: [ˈvɑːsɑ]) is a city on the west coast of Finland. It received its charter in 1606, during the reign of Charles IX of Sweden and is named after the Royal House of Vasa.
