Top 6 Pizza food in St-Paul-de-Vence, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France

December 9, 2019 Roger Rusk

Find out what Pizza restaurants to try in St-Paul-de-Vence. This small, relaxed town’s artsy side runs deep. Chagall lived here, and great art museums such as the Maeght and Saint-Paul’s Museum are in town or just outside it. Its Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs was one of the last commissions undertaken by the Belgian artist Folon. Walk along the ancient city walls for great views—and bring your own sketchbook. Maybe you’ll be inspired too.

I’ve passed this place many times but never at the right moment. But today for lunch I was craving good pizza and Le Comptoir made it happen. It’s a by the slice pizza shop, but the pieces are quite large and reasonably priced. The owner explained every possible choice (in English) which made choosing harder... :) but went with the classique and the calzone version and wow wow wow! Fantastic, very fresh and tasty. I’ve found my go to pizza place in Vence now! Thanks so much for the wonderful pizza and side note the owner speaks very good English so all the better! :) :) :). I will be back for sure!

Nice cozy small restaurant in the heart of the old town, friendlier and more welcoming than most places. I had veal escalope and chips which was a little disappointing and the escalope didn't have much taste. My wife had a tasty pizza. We enjoyed a carafe of house red, very good value. For dessert, they had the option of a single boule of ice-cream sorbet for 2 euros, which was a nice way to finish our meal.

We visited this small restaurant on the penultimate night of our relaxing holiday in La Colle Sur Loupe. We should have visited it sooner as we most certainly would have eaten there again! Pleasant staff , great Pizzas and Steak and good value too. Worth a visit .

I have great childhood memories of eating pizza fresh from the oven of a roadside van in Provence so couldn't pass up the offering from pizza de l'Ara in Vence. We were not disappointed. Wonderful fresh ingredients, generous toppings and any combination you could wish for catering for both children and adult tastes. The large pizzas were indeed large and the leftovers reheated beautifully for childrens' lunch the following day. We'll be back.

Pizza - soggy and inedible. Steaks ordered medium rare came late and so overcooked they were as tough as shoe leather and 2 out of 3 came without the sauce au poivre we ordered. She said 'steaks take a long time' !! If only they had cooked them a lot less they might have been edible! Pasta between lukewarm and cold and microwaved to heat up (no parmesan offered despite asking). Bolognese and daube sauce both watery and not cooked 'down' enough to get the rich flavours they deserve. Pasta came so quick it was obviously not cooked fresh but heated up. Salads ok, wine nice. The wine was never served, we had to get a corkscrew and glasses and serve ourselves because the food arrived but we had no wine. In our party were 2 chefs and others who work in hospitality - no-one has ever had such a terrible experience ever in any restaurant around the world. Other people walked out. Many positive reviews are suspiciously from people who only have posted once or twice. Their selling point is 'number 2 on tripadvisor'. They should be banned and taken off for writing false reviews. I don't write many negative reviews as sometimes it can just be an 'off' day. This was obviously not the case. They offered us 16 euros discount for both steaks that we returned (that cost over 23 eur each) saying that they were still charging us for the chips !!!! They did offer to make us another steak but we just didn't want to eat any food from their kitchen. We didn't eat the pizza or pasta either. The chef refused to come out and talk to us. The poor waitress tried her best but just couldn't cope and didn't look like she cared. We went opposite and got a takeaway salad and went home and ate some cheese because we were so hungry! Beware of this place.
