We spent 2 weeks in Kapaau with 2 young boys (5 & 8) so took the 5yo out for his first round of golf at Kohala Golf Park which was perfect - 9 hole Par 3 course. Just a fun beginners course for kids (and adults). No stress and won't cost a fortune - $20 for me including 3 rusty rental clubs - 8 iron, SW and putter) and my 5yo was free. We then went for a swim in the community pool afterwards (also Free) and played on the playground. FYI - there are tennis courts in the park to. Awesome 3 hours while my wife and 8yo did the zipline. My 5yo was too little for zipline so this was a great substitute for him. Families doing day trips who aren't interested in the more expensive activities in the area (Flumin or zipline - or in the case of zipline if they were too little this is a great filler before heading to the Pololu lookout. I am going back today with the wife and 8 yo this time in tow. Tip: don't expect smooth greens... this is a casual couse. Think beginners-kids... I played in bare feet and had a blast.

Our family of 5 (3 teens) all enjoyed this hike. Do be smart and wear supportive shoes and bring water. The kids did not want to take waters (teens) and the regretted it on the hike return hike. The hike down to the beach is steep, short but you need to watch your steps as the trail is very uneven. The return hike is very steep and uphill so pace yourself. One person in our group went a bit too fast and had to stop half way up to catch her breadth, and get water as she was getting dizzy. I would not hike here is it has been raining because it would be too slippery to safely hike down. The scenery at the bottom is simply amazing. Beautiful views of the valley, fun rope swings, great beach with sand and rocks. You could spend a long time down there, or not. We've been to the look out before but never ventured down and boy were we glad we did!
