Volcanic Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea provide the cinema-worthy backdrop for Taormina, Sicily's legendary resort town. Twisting medieval streets and a second-century Greek theater add to its romantic air, which inspired the writings of D.H. Lawrence and Truman Capote. Incredible experience. Pasquale is a very nice and upbeat person. He took us to the best wineries. From the moment he picked us up it was clear that he had the entire day in perfect control. He is always professional and also fun. We really enjoyed the wine and food and the cellar tours. Pasquale even sent us several pictures from the day of fun that we had together. It was the highlight of our trip to Sicily. The communication was great - I asked Pasquale to arrange to have a cake for my girlfriend's birthday ... he made sure that at every destination there was a cake and everyone sang. He made me look like a hero! Thank you Pasquale!!!

It was a very thorough trip and I feel that I really got a good idea of Sicily. I liked the tour and did not mind the walking. I was not so happy that we reached our hotel of the night at about 6:30, dinner was usually at 8 which didn't leave too much time in between. After dinner I usually went right to bed and then the bus was usually schedule to leave at about 8 in the morning. One of the hardest things was keeping clothes clean. I think it would have been nicer if they were a laundromat on the trip. Either in the hotel, or close by. I would wash a shirt but it would take a long time to dry. For me, that was the biggest hardship and the other people I spoke with said the same thing. So it was a good trip, but kind of rushed in the evening and the morning and no chance to clean clothes. Valerie Rassino approached us at the port and sold herself as a licensed tour operator. She was an English speaking taxi driver by all accounts. She did not recommend an interesting itinerary and drove us to Syracuse after discussing options. She gave us two tour guide books from her trunk and we were reading in the car. She dropped us in Syracuse to find our on way to the Duomo where she would catch up with us. We thought she had left us it took her so long to find us. Walked us around the city to the parked car and drove us back. Then, dropped us off at the monastery in Catania for the tour and picked us up after and then back to port. Very nice taxi driver but definitely not the informed tour guide we anticipated.

Fabulous route along the seaside and climbing up the roadways to viewpoints with tremendous views. Great snack and coffee stops. We even got to see the start of a local wedding and the bride's entrance at the cathedral. Roberto got us some wonderful pastries at the coffee shop/bakery owned by his family in one of the towns we went through. Along the way he answered any and all questions from medieval history to current events as well as guiding us to some great photo opportunities.
