Kandy (Sinhalese: මහනුවර Mahanuwara, pronounced [mahanuʋərə]; Tamil: கண்டி, pronounced [ˈkaɳɖi]) is a major city in Sri Lanka located in the Central Province. It was the last capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea. Kandy is both an administrative and religious city and is also the capital of the Central Province. Kandy is the home of The Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world. It was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988.

Our driver recommended this place to grab some Indian, we were not expecting much but we were wrong. We had to go into a lift and up a couple of floors, the lift opens right into the restaurant which is actually quite posh for Sri Lankan standards. The food was actually decent, the waiters were friendly and worked really hard. We got there about 7pm and from then onwards it got really busy and they pretty much had a full house. I got their lamb curry which was good, while my wife got their mixed veg curry, also good. The food isn’t wow, but it’s decent. Don’t hesitate to visit this place, the chef may take some time to cook, but it’s worth the wait.

I ordered a side of really spicy wings as the menu suggested it would be a challenge. Either they forgot the spice or they're wings are weak. Decent flavour, quite salty for my liking. Vegetarian pizza was decent - nothing special. Ambiance is pretty cool though

Six of us ventured into this famous chained establishment, six of us were pretty hacked off when we came out. Not that the pizzas we had were bad, they were pretty good to be honest, but the service was woeful. First we were made to sit in the reception for ten minutes to wait for a table, I don’t mind doing this but the place wasn’t even half full. When we got a table we ordered drinks, one of the party specifically asked for the Fanta, not the orange Fanta but what ever flavour the purple logo Fanta was. So the drinks order arrived with a Fanta orange. We still have no idea what the purple flavour was, the. Waitress couldn’t be bothered to try to explain. She did however let us know that everything we wanted was not available! Apparently to have stuffed crust, thin base and a host of other types of base you need to order medium or large! I’m not a big pizza eater but I’m fairly sure you can have most combinations in the uk, but hey it’s ok this isn’t the uk. I was fairly hungry so went for the thin base medium sized fiery chicken. All the smaller pizzas arrived and the party got stuck into them, mine being a bit bigger hadn’t arrived. Everyone had finished theirs and still no sign of mine so we called the waitress over again, she had no recollection of me ordering a medium thin base, though never questioned the fact she only had five small pizzas for a table of six. She came back over with the order she had written and obviously had it written down judging by the awkward look on her face. All she did was look at me and say “ten minutes” not a sorry not an excuse nothing. Also the toilets were disgusting, apart from anyone using the urinals being in full view of the lobby when the door is opened, the place stunk to the point of making your eyes water. After I washed my hands I stuck them under the dryer..... nothing! Out of order. I can understand that things break down but c’mon put some towels out. Pizza Hut, you need to police your franchise’s a bit better and ensure they train their staff.

We went here for lunch on advice of our guide. We opted for the lunch buffet. There were many options for starters, soup, salad, bread, we had some salad which was good. From the buffet we had the rice with vegetables, good, and the red rice, which was too dry.One of the chicken dishes was a bit dry, as was the pork roast. All the other dishes like chicken curry, dahl curry, vegetables etc were very good and tasty.A good choice of deserts, fruits, cakes, mousses, etc. all very good.Friendly service. Nice view over the city from the terrace. The price of the buffet was 6,50 euro per person, including service and tax. A diet coke 2 euro. Very good value for money.Dear Valued Guest,Thank you very much for taking time to review us and your feedback is priceless for us.We are keen to maximize the quality of our food and service and the comments like yours encourage us indeed.Thank you repeatedly!Neranjan Vilane
