An enjoyable stay in a nicely refurbished former monastery
Reviewed By 255urbanaThe Altes Kloster hotel occupies two wings of a former monastery in central Hainburg an de Donau. It is easily accessible by car in a half-hour drive from Vienna airport. There is free parking right at the building,. The rooms have been nicely refurbished. Mine was very spacious, with a strikingly tall ceiling (see picture). Staff was friendly throughout. The hotel has a restaurant for their breakfast buffet. It also offers a (relatively simple) menu for dinner, which is convenient because Hainburg does not have that many restaurant options. Staff was very friendly throughout. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Reviewed By Steve005This atmospheric and gemütlich hotel reflects intelligent renovation and adaptation of historic buildings; with spacious bedrooms and a delightful inner hof as well as a dining terrace on the banks of the Danube a few steps away. The owners are charismatic leaders who have built a team which seems to co-operate well to ensure a really hospitable atmosphere. Friendly professionalism seems to permeate what they do. Breakfast can be taken in the hof in good weather and is a buffet with eggs cooked to order. The restaurant is excellent with traditional Austrian menus with an extra flair and high quality (mainly organic) produce.

Reviewed By jerryr872We love the personal service here; very clean, new rooms available, and excellent food. My wife and I have stayed here the last four years in a row (except 2020 due to Covid). The restaurant is complimented by an idyllic seating area along the Danube, with dining all day long. Watch the ships pass and listen to this historic river as you dine on Austrian specialities.
