The Casona Matetic Hotel was built in the early 1900s and is characteristic of the traditional Chilean countryside of the time. In 2004 it was renovated and elegantly decorated by renowned designer and architect Max Cumming.It offers seven spacious rooms fitted with either a king size bed or two single beds, central heating, an en-suite bathroom, and a private terrace. It has a meeting hall for up to 45 people, a pool table, a fireplace and an honesty bar. Reviewed By llf415La Casona is beautiful and tranquil: a place to go to slow down, relax, and luxuriate. If you take it easy and embrace the pace, it is fantastic. I give the hotel 4 stars for the mediocre customer service. A hotel of this quality should have a well-trained staff. I understand it is in the country and appreciate the quiet atmosphere and slow pace. That is well done. However, when a patron walks in they should be greeted, offered a drink, asked to sit in the lovely living room, and then checked in. When I walked in I was treated with a person sitting at a desk whose only words to me were, “passport?” As another example, when I asked for a wine tour, I was told that it was at 11:00 am, and that is all. So, I planned to be in the lobby at that time. At 10:30, as I was getting ready, I received a call in my room asking me where I was and telling me they were waiting on me. Apparently, we had to be down the road at the winery at 11:00, but this was never conveyed to me. The lack of customer service training extends to the restaurant. They serve you dinner, which is lovely, but a-well trained staff would not bring one’s food the second one sat down before they had even ordered wine or been given bread. At the Equilibrio restaurant, which is also lovely, I was utterly ignored. And, at a restaurant like that, I should not have had to ask for a bottle of water four times before receiving it. Now let’s talk about the biggest customer service flaw: the sommelier. The sommelier is rude rude rude. I get that he has a passion for wine, but he doesn’t listen to one’s requests and preferences and argues when you disagree. He is haughty and exactly the opposite of the vibe one wants when going to the country to relax. On a high note, the woman who does the horseback rides is fantastic. She told me she was trained in tourism in San Pedro de Atacama. If everyone at La Casona had her customer service skills it would be perfect. Would I go back? Absolutely. In fact, this was my second trip there. Would I expect customer service to match the location and price? I would hope for it but not expect it.

Fantastic Experience

We stayed there in March 2022, The room was very clean and the welcome bottle of wine was a great touch. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate my wheat allergy. The restaurant was gourmet, such beautiful presentation. The staff treated you like family you like..... The owner greeted you when you checked in. The staff had a quick check in and spoke very good English. The Hotel Location was a great base for winery hopping. They have beautiful grounds. They accommodate your needs how ever they can. We really had a hard time leaving. We are so Glad we choose this Hotel . You will be also. A big shout out to Rodrigo(owner) for making our stay so comfortable, and Denise who tended to us like family. Everyone was fantastic,, We can not say enough.

Casavino is within a vineyard and territory of 150 hectares, where you can go out by bicycle, visit the horses and play with the friendly dogs that are in casavino. The cave of wine, is the only underground room in Casablanca where you can sleep, experience a stable and very pleasant temperature to sleep, with a deep silence and unique design. The cave has three interior levels, with a viewpoint at the top, surrounded by nature within a vineyard.
Relaxing getaway
Reviewed By Cami2011The little cabin has all amenities needed and the welcome wine, jam and food supply was really nice, made for a quick lunch and and breakfast. We stayed in a 3 person cabin (just 2 of us) and for people who like to bbq just perfect with all that’s required and Jose available to light the fire. We wanted to go to the wineries so while many are still closed post COVID we managed to go to 2 or 3, very close by and always nice to come back to sit and have another glass in the cabin. Not much to do in the place beside walks, biking (the cabin has 2 available bikes) And relaxing. Service by Jose is just great!!

We had the possibility to rent bycicles with Baby Seat and little bycicles for the kids. We highly recommend this place!! Thank you so much

Not great but good location
Reviewed By Erica WThis place is very rustic and sweet but it looks like it has seen better days. The staff, if you can find someone, wears many hats and only one or two speak English ( not even a little to get by). The room is spacious but the bed was so bad we hardly slept at all. Really needs an upgrade. Since it’s a spa we had arranged for massages - they were terrible- barely any effort I felt. The restaurant is fine - since almost all of the wineries are not open for dinner it was our only option- the breakfast however is barely even worth it- there is a reason why it’s included... luckily we spent most of our time in Casablanca at the gorgeous wineries in the valley and had amazing meals there - it would have been nice after a long day to come back to a cozy/ cleaner hotel. In speaking with other travelers they too felt the same. Maybe the lack of effort was because this place was dead - I hope the tourism picks up so maybe they have a chance of getting it right next time!

Great place to stay in Casablanca
Reviewed By MocampionWe were very pleased that we changed our plans and had 1 night in Casablanca and especially that we chose Umawtu for that night. Andrea is a lovely hostess and made us feel very welcome- even gave us a bottle of wine as a gift. The letting accommodation is actually a 3 bed roomed bungalow with each of the rooms being let to different guests and sharing a central area with sitting room and kitchen. We actually had the whole place to ourselves so could make ourselves a hot drink in the evening and, when we woke up early, we could make coffee and take it back to bed. It felt just like home! There were breakfast items in the fridge so we actually expected to get ourselves breakfast. It was a complete surprise when Lorena came in and started to prepare it for us! She brought in fresh, warm rolls and cold meat to add to the cereal, yogurt, cheese, jams and spreads that were already there. We had a very pleasant breakfast,maybe it that Lorena spoke no English and we spoke no Spanish! Andrea told us that people come as guests and leave as friends. We experienced that warmth and would return if we were ever in the area.
