Hard to believe this place is right in the heart of suburban DC! I've been here several times both alone and with others and it's beautiful any time of the year. Walking the loop all the way around Lake Accotink is a great way to spend a couple hours but if you're not into hiking there's plenty of activities at the pavilion (merry-go-round, minigolf. picnic areas, paddle boating, etc). Great place for families with young kids and there's a concession stand too.

Hidden Pond Nature Center

We followed several of the trails (blue to green to yellow) throughout the nature center. We saw a fox, deer, and other small animals as we walked. It is a fairly easy walk, not steep or anything. It was quiet and we truly felt in touch with nature as we were walking through.

Lake Accotink Trail

Reviewed By psujmu - Springfield, United States

I walk the dog and access from the West Springfield Little League Entrance which has good parking. The trail is wide and nicely paved here an easy terrain all the way to Accotink Park. It's good for families, dog walking, biking and crosses or follows the stream for much of the trail. There are unpaved side trails that follow the stream that, are lightly travelled but enough that the trails are worn in. It's about an hour for most to walk to Lake Accotink and back from the Little League fields.

Springfield Town Center

We had not been here in quite a while and while out for a late lunch and to kill a couple of hors before dinner plans, we stopped in…. Found an amazing Mediterranean place, called Mezah and really enjoyed lunch there. Then we saw that there was a Nordstrom Rack in this mall and we set out to look for it. We walked the entire upstairs and couldn’t find it, so we flagged down a young lady working security and she not only pointed us in the right direction, she walked with us there and chatted. Very good service from her, as she was very friendly! The mall was very clean and we were impressed with the number of nicer, larger stores and nearly every chain is in this mall. The Nordstrom Rack had some AMAZING deal too! Definitely need to stop in here more often!

I saw online that they had a Sunday breakfast buffet and I was a little disappointed when the waitress said the stopped doing it because too few customers. I had a ham and cheese omelet and my wife had corned beef hash with scrambled eggs. Both meals were great and there was no need for the buffet.
