We dropped in here on our bikes and were so pleasantly surprised by this slick operation. You take the free tour using an audio/visual guide in your own language which takes 20/30 minutes. We found it fascinating seeing the thousands of bottles in the caves and then the production line process. At the end you return to the shop to sample some wine. You won't be able to resist buying some; it's so delicious! We ended up purchasing 6 bottles of sparking wine (great value at around €7 per bottle) and had to return the following day to collect it! Certainly a must-do stop for a cool 45 minutes near Amboise.
