Green Grotta

You can swim or climb the cliffs in the Green Grotto, which looks like an enormous liquid emerald.

Although the Blue Grotto gets all the attention, if you are cruising around the Island of Capri you'll likely see this grotto and it is really pretty to see - crystal clear waters and if you look close you can see jelly fish sometimes - if you do, don't jump in for a swim!

White Grotta

Set midway up a rock face, this cavern is filled with stalactites and stalagmites, where the limestone rock seems to reflect only white rays of light.

White Grotto is one of the stops during the boat tour that you take from Capri around the island. Beautiful rock formations (your boatman will point at the spot that resembles a statue of Madonna) and water! Not really so impressive like Green Grotto and the breathtaking like Blue Grotto, but very lovely and worth seeing.

Blue Grotto

The must-see attraction on Capri is the magical Blue Grotto, where visitors take a boat ride through a natural cavern that is filled with an ethereal and eerie light reflecting on the (very blue) water.

We highly recommend making your own way via bus to the Blue Grotto. Also check the tide times before you travel as it is closed when the tide is high. You may have to wait for a while, but not as long as the people who arrive on the tourist boats. On average there are four/five people per boat. You pay a fee (which I think was 15 euros each) and then head through a very small tunnel ... keep your hands in and your head down. Once inside it is breathtaking. You get to go around a few times and take pictures and videos, then remember to duck on the way out. You can then tip your boat man! We also had a display of fish leaping out of the water which was great fun, especially when some ended up in one of the boat mans trousers. We would definitely recommend this! Hope you enjoy.

Grotta di Matromania

This natural cave was the site of strange rituals to worship gods during ancient Roman times.

Whilst on the way to the Natural Arch from Capri Town you will automatically come to the Grotto on your way there. It is a massive formation, very impressive although there is nothing in it. According to one knowledgable visitor there was once a slab here depicting Mithra. Stop and gaze and take a few photos and continue towards the Natural Arch:)

Red Grotta

This was the first grotto that we saw on our boat (then there were white, green and blue ones). There were some waves and so the water was reviling the red part of the rock which lies under the water. Very beautiful color, not to mention the water. Incredible nature!
