Sandy Island

A small beach island known for its snorkeling.

Reviewed By mattmX4628UL

My wife and I had the opportunity to visit this island with the sailing trip we were on. It looks like something out of a movie set with the white sandy beaches and palm trees lined along the length of the island. The snorkeling was wonderful. While we drifted beyond the northern tip of the island toward the beach, we saw many varieties of fish (with some in large schools) along with stingrays, a spotted eel, many varieties of coral, and many different plants. We spent the rest of the morning relaxing in the clear water and on the beach. The area is not very large so relaxing and snorkeling are about the only options you have. This is a national park so you are not allowed to take anything from the premises.

The primary location on Carriacou for anchoring yachts also serves as a popular beach.

Friendly locals, lots of bars offering happy hours and special. Very popular with cruisers, good provisioning, and dinghy docks around the bay
