Chintpurni Temple

Reviewed By sanaser - Ludhiana

The Chintpurni Temple is situated in Una dist. of Himachal Pradesh. Chintpurni is one of the shakti peeth in India and it's believed that goddess Sati's severed head fell at this place. So that, Mata Chintpurni Devi is also known as Mata Shri Chhinnamastika Devi. It's believed that if one asks something from the Devi with an honest heart, one's wishes will be granted. Chintpurni is very well connected through roads. We went there by road on Christmas Day for a religious visit. Apart from the holy shrine, there are some picturesque places around Chintpurni for sightseeing.

Sheetla Devi Temple

This is right behind Chintpurni temple and like all Himachal Pradesh temples, is on top of a mountain. One of the 9 Devi temples, people here are nice, sweet, welcoming and helpful. Most things are cheaper in HP than in Punjab, so do take a look around the temple, at the foot of which is a small and busy town centre, not much else around it I'm afraid. A very holy place indeed.

Shiva Bari

Reviewed By Sumit S

It is a very old historical and mythologically important place with many old tales related to Lord Shiva & Dronacharya related with it. The temple and attached structure itself is very old which is visible clearly. Situated in deep jungles, it is an interesting place to visit.

Dera Baba Bharbhag Singh

Reviewed By TheLeopard79 - Birmingham, United Kingdom

A very long winding mountain route, no real amenities nearby, toilet facilities are poor, but my God the photo ops are bril! Many people dealing with ethereal possessions come here, but that aside, this place is a modern wonder, seeing how high and isolated a place this is and the level of building and construction that has taken place here. Baba Wadbhaag Singh Ji defeated the King of the demons here, hence the belief in his power to rid people of ghostly possessions. A side of India you would not want to miss, I was glad I went.

Pir Nigaha

Good big car park and not so high up in the Mountains so it was easier to get to than most places. There are two places here: Lakh Datta and Peer Nagha, you are supposed to go to the one first and the other second, sorry but don't know which is which, just be glad you got to go there! Prayer offerings are relatively cheap. Much building work and construction still going on which is good, the place needs work doing to it. Ignore the beggars though and do not even talk to them, just walk by, they are professionals. A most holy place indeed.
