The Red Carrot

Charming little shop that is more than meets the eye from the outside. This old house is jam packed with a great selection of gifts, collectables and even a clothing boutique. A fun place to get a quick gift or just browse.

Joyland Theatre

You cannot beat $10. including tax to see a first run movie! And that's the adult price. The seats are big and soft and comfy. The lobby is adequate for what it needs to do, the concessions sells the usual movie fare. There is a balcony for grown-ups only, although they do let me up there, so I'm not sure if that's as big a deal as I like to pretend it is. ;-) The only problem really is that the washrooms are tiny and awkward, definitely not handicapped accessible. Loads of free parking just steps in front of the entrance. If you are from the city you might be confused at first because there is one showing (8 pm) of one movie, except for Mondays when the theatre is closed. Sometimes though there are weekend matinees for kid's movies.

Origin Malting & Brewing Co.

We are the only Brewery/Malt house/Taproom in Canada. We bring the farmer forward by explaining the process of Farm to Glass by taking malting barley from our family farm, malting it in our malting facility, and then brewing it into delicious brews for sale in our taproom

Stopped by while in town for overnight. Some good offerings on tap in their facility. Nice Seating area (and you can bing outside food into the taproom!) for friends and family. Open viewing of the brew house and their malting facility. Their beer does a good job of representing the different styles of malting they produce. I especially liked the 2C Pale, as well as the Kolsch. The IPA missed the mark for me slightly but I expect it is a work in progress. The servers at the desk were very friendly and welcomed us promptly and professionally. They offer growler fills, as well as a crowler fill on site. I’ll definitely return if I find myself in Strathmore anytime soon.

Small, overcrowded and VERY expensive when compared to places like Cochrane and Bragg Creek.
Do not fall for the "group specials". our birthday party was given 100 rounds each. That's nothing, especially when they throw upwards of 50 people into a single game zone. in order to adequately protect yourself, you'd need thousands of rounds which will cost you hundreds. I brought this up to staff and was reminded that the 'instruction' provided by the marshals made this place superior. Baloney! our Marshal talked so darn much, he thought he was a real comedian, but was just a big time waster. his only actual 'advice' was "make sure you buy lots of ammo".
want some real advice? go to Cochrane. Way bigger, less crowded and half the price. Your kids can literally battle for hours in Cochrane at a waaaay cheaper rate.
This place has potential, but they need to drop the attitude and the price.
*an important note: Safety. our birthday party was forced to join up with a MASSIVE group of folks who spoke little to no English. These folks would fire off rounds while we were standing in a group listening to instructions. i had to personally chew out a kid for shooting me in the leg from less than 5 feet. instructor did nothing more than laugh. In Cochrane, safety is paramount and everyone keeps their Safety mechanism ON when the game is not in play. Not observing this rule would see you thrown out. This place never even pointed out the safety on the weapon.*
